Essex Dog Park Meeting

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to give you a quick update as to the happenings with the dog park.

1) The Essex Junction Leash Ordinance change for the dog park was passed in January and took effect at the begginning of this month. We went before the selectboard last night (4/16/12) to have the town adopt similar language. The Selectboard raised a few questions that we need to clarify at the next meeting, May 7th where there will be a public meeting on the change. My Feelings coming away were very positive and I think that we should have no problems at the May Meeting, but if you want to attend and show your support for the dog park that would be great!

2) Planning for the Essex Dog Days of Summer fund raising event continues, We have over 15 businesses and rescues registered and more signing up to attend and we will have food from the amazing "Sausage Shack" We will continue to talk to local businesses to try and make the event a great success! We will definitely need volunteers On and around the event date if you want to help out email us or show up at a committee meeting.

3) We are planning to send a mailer to all the registered dog owners to raise awareness for the park and ask for donations to help bolster our fundraising efforts. On that mailer there will also be information about this summer's event so people can mark their calendars early. 

4) We are still working on our Application to Lowes' community Grant program to see if we can get Lowes to donate a portion of the funds needed for the park.

Our Next Meeting is Monday, April 23rd at 7:00pm. It will be at the Essex Junction Recreation and Parks Building. It is Located at Maple Street Park, 75 Maple Street, Essex Junction. It is open to the public and we welcome everyone to come, attend, and support the dog park!
